Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cans 5 oz each tuna, drained
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar Choose your preferred cheese.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular) Panko breadcrumbs yield a crunchier texture.
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice (optional) Adds a zest to the patties.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter For frying.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, onion, garlic, mayo, salt, pepper, and optional lemon juice. Mix well until a thick, moldable consistency forms.
  • Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round patties, about 1/2-inch thick.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the patties in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from heat and let them cool slightly before serving. Garnish with extra parsley.

Notes

Consider adding a dash of hot sauce or your favorite spices for extra flavor. Refrigerating the patties for about 30 minutes before cooking helps them hold their shape better.
