  • 1 cup canned crab meat, drained Use fresh crab meat for a richer flavor.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 10 pieces fresh jalapeños Slice in half and deseed for milder heat.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or mozzarella work well.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder Optional for added flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • for greasing Vegetable oil or butter

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise and carefully remove the seeds.
  • In a bowl, stir together the softened cream cheese, crab meat, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Fill each jalapeño half generously with the crab and cheese mixture.
  • Lightly grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil or butter and arrange the stuffed jalapeños on it.

Cooking

  • Bake the poppers in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes until golden and the peppers are softened.
  • Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an added crunch, top with panko breadcrumbs before baking. Adjust the heat by leaving some seeds in the jalapeños or adding diced jalapeños to the filling.
