Ingredients

Meatloaf Base

Caramelized Onions

  • 1/2 tsp salt For seasoning.

Instructions

Caramelize the Onions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and olive oil until bubbly.
  • Add the thinly sliced onions and cook for about 15-20 minutes until they turn golden brown.
  • Sprinkle in salt and sugar, then pour in the beef broth and simmer.

Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, French onion soup mix, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Mix gently until just combined and form it into a rectangular shape.
  • Spread caramelized onions on the center and roll into a log, sealing edges tightly.

Cook in the Crockpot

  • Lightly grease the crockpot and place the meatloaf inside.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours until cooked through.
  • In the last 10 minutes, add Swiss cheese slices on top.
