Instructions

Preparation

  • Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread, setting the slices aside with the buttered side facing down.
  • On the unbuttered side of two of the bread slices, spread 1 tablespoon of cream cheese generously.
  • Sprinkle the garlic powder and dried dill evenly over the cream cheese.
  • Layer 2 slices of cheddar and 2 slices of mozzarella on each cream cheese-coated slice.
  • Top with 1/4 cup of sliced dill pickles on each sandwich.
  • Place the remaining two slices of bread on top, buttered side facing out.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and grill the sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Allow the sandwiches to cool for a minute before slicing in half and serving while still warm.

Notes

For an extra hint of flavor, consider toasting the dried dill slightly in the skillet before adding it to the cream cheese mixture. Use a heavier skillet or a panini press for optimal melting of the cheeses.
