Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by slicing your sweet potatoes lengthwise into generous 2–3 cm thick steaks. Brush each side gently with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.

Roasting the Potatoes

  • Arrange the seasoned sweet potato steaks on a lined baking sheet. Roast in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Preparing the Glaze

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the gochujang, maple syrup, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and grated garlic until smooth.

Glazing and Final Roast

  • Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and brush the glaze generously over both sides. Return to the oven for another 10–15 minutes.

Serving

  • Once beautifully caramelized, remove from the oven, and serve hot. Garnish with sesame seeds, scallions, and any optional toppings.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet and ensure sweet potatoes are well-coated in the glaze for maximum flavor. Perfect as a side dish or vegetarian main course.
