Preparation

  • Rinse the cucumbers in cold water, trim the ends, and cut into your desired shape: spears, chips, or leave them whole.

Brine Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine water, white vinegar, sugar, and pickling salt. Heat over medium until sugar and salt dissolve completely.

Adding Spices

  • Remove the brine from heat and stir in the smashed garlic, mustard seeds, red pepper flakes, dill seeds, and black peppercorns. Let it rest for a few minutes.

Jar the Cucumbers

  • Pack the cucumbers tightly into clean glass jars, and distribute garlic and spices evenly.

Combine and Seal

  • Pour hot brine over cucumbers, covering completely and leaving a little space at the top. Seal jars tightly with lids.

Cooling

  • Let the jars cool to room temperature before placing them in the refrigerator. For best flavor, chill for 3-5 days before tasting.
