Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Mix until a sandy texture forms, then press this mixture into a 9-inch pie dish or tart pan. Bake for 8 minutes until lightly golden and let it cool slightly.

Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese along with sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth. Pour this filling over the cooled crust, spreading it evenly.

Pecan Topping

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Stir until smooth and melted. Remove from heat and whisk in the egg, vanilla, and salt. Gently fold in the chopped pecans.
  • Spoon the pecan mixture over the cream cheese layer, spreading it lightly on top. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is set and slightly caramelized. Let it cool for at least an hour before cutting into slices.

Serving

  • Serve at room temperature or chilled, drizzled with caramel sauce or whipped cream.

Notes

For best results, ensure cream cheese is softened. Chilling the pie before serving allows flavors to deepen. Keep the pie under supervision while baking to prevent burning the pecan topping.
