Ingredients

Puff Pastry and Egg Wash

Shrimp Preparation

  • 12 large shrimp, peeled & deveined The stars of the dish.

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika Enhances shrimp's flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes Adds a touch of spice.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Balances all flavors.

Garnish

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped Final flourish of freshness.

Instructions

Preparation and Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and roll out the chilled puff pastry on a floured surface. Cut it into wide strips.
  • Arrange the strips into a circular formation on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and press the ends together to seal.
  • Brush the pastry with the beaten egg, and sprinkle with smoked paprika.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Avocado Mixture

  • In a bowl, mash the ripe avocados until creamy. Stir in lime juice, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Shrimp Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat, then add the shrimp along with smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, and salt.
  • Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and opaque, then remove from heat.

Assembly

  • Once the puff pastry ring has cooled, spread the creamy avocado mixture over the top.
  • Artfully arrange the sautéed shrimp atop the avocado layer and finish with chopped parsley and extra red pepper flakes.

Notes

Use chilled puff pastry for easier assembly and allow it to rest after baking. Consider using pre-cooked shrimp for a quicker recipe.
