Ingredients

For the beef marinade

  • 8 oz thinly sliced beef (sirloin or flank steak) Tender and juicy, this beef is the centerpiece of your dish.

For the fried rice

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old) Absorbs flavors beautifully.
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced Contributes sweetness and tang.
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced Enhances the aroma.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Brightens the flavors.
  • 1/2 cup carrots, diced Adds sweetness and crunch.
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped Adds brightness.
  • 1/2 cup cabbage, shredded Lends texture and crunch.
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce Enhances the fried rice flavor.

Instructions

Marinate the Beef

  • Combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, cornstarch, and sesame oil in a bowl. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes.

Prepare the Stir-Fry

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from pan and set aside.

Sauté the Veggies

  • In the same pan, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté diced red and yellow onions until soft and slightly caramelized. Add minced garlic, diced carrots, and shredded cabbage. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

Combine Everything

  • Add the cooked rice to the pan, breaking it up gently. Mix in the soy sauces and oyster sauce, then add the cooked beef. Stir until well combined.

Finish and Serve

  • Add chopped green onions and optional chili flakes. Drizzle with sesame oil and toss for 1-2 minutes until well mixed. Serve hot.

Notes

Use day-old rice to prevent mushiness. Prepare ingredients in advance for a seamless cooking experience.
