Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into four equal squares. Shape each square into a round nest by folding the edges inward and pinching the sides.
  • Brush the pastry with egg wash and bake for about 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Cooking the Filling

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 3 minutes.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.

Assembly

  • Once the pastry nests are baked, fill each nest with the Sloppy Joe mixture, letting it overflow.
  • Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and return to the oven for 5 minutes until cheese is melted.

Serving

  • Brush the pastry edges with melted butter for a glossy finish and sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving warm.
