Ingredients

For the phyllo cups

  • 12 sheets phyllo dough, thawed To achieve a light, crispy texture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush each phyllo sheet generously with melted butter or olive oil.
  • Stack four sheets together and slice into 3-inch squares.
  • Press each square into a mini muffin tin to form a cup shape.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  • Allow baked cups to cool on a wire rack.

Make the Avocado Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, mash the avocados with lime juice, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, salt, and pepper until creamy.

Cook the Shrimp

  • Toss the shrimp with smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil, and sauté shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and slightly charred.

Assemble the Cups

  • Fill each phyllo cup with a dollop of the creamy avocado mixture.
  • Top with the spicy shrimp, garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and lime wedges.
  • Arrange on a platter and serve immediately.

Notes

For added flavor, consider lime zest in the avocado mixture or adjusting cayenne pepper to taste. Prepare avocado mixture ahead of time and store covered.
