Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, instant yeast, and granulated sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add the egg, softened butter, all-purpose flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Cover the bowl with a towel and let dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
  • Spread softened cream cheese over the dough, then layer strawberry preserves evenly.
  • Starting from a long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log and slice into 12 rolls.
  • Place rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Frosting and Serving

  • While rolls bake, prepare frosting by beating together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Spread frosting over the warm rolls and drizzle with strawberry glaze. Optionally, sprinkle with crushed graham crackers.
  • Serve rolls warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding fresh strawberries on top, or substitute strawberry preserves with raspberry or blueberry. Adding lemon zest to the frosting will enhance freshness.
