  • 250 g macaroni Perfectly-sized short pasta that cooks to a delightful al dente.
  • 200 g cooked chicken strips Tender and flavorful, adding a protein-packed punch.
  • 1 leek, sliced A subtle, sweet onion flavor that enhances the overall dish.
  • 150 g mushrooms, sliced Earthy and rich, bringing warmth and depth to every bite.
  • 200 ml heavy cream Luxuriously creamy, creating a luscious sauce that binds all the ingredients together.

Preparation

  • Cook the macaroni in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large pan, melt a little butter or heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the sliced leek and mushrooms until they become soft and golden.
  • Incorporate the cooked chicken strips into the pan and gently heat through.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Let it simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Add the drained pasta and toss everything together, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour the mixture into a baking dish, adding extra cheese on top if desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

For added flavor, consider spices like garlic powder or fresh herbs. Optional breadcrumbs can add crunch when baked. Leftovers can be stored for up to three days in an airtight container.
