  • 325 ml warm water Encourages yeast to bloom.
  • 50 ml olive oil Adds flavor and helps with the dough’s texture.
  • 1 whole Camembert wheel The star of this dish, waiting to ooze warmth.
  • 1 clove garlic, thinly sliced Infuses the Camembert with flavor.
  • few rosemary sprigs Adds an earthy, aromatic flavor.
  • flaky sea salt To sprinkle on top.
  • fresh rosemary or thyme Optional garnish.
  • honey drizzle or chili flakes Optional for added sweetness or spice.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix gently before adding warm water and olive oil. Stir until it forms a dough.
  • Flour your work surface and knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.

Assembly

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place the Camembert in its wooden box at the center of the tray.
  • Punch down the risen dough, divide it into 16–20 small balls, and arrange them around the cheese.
  • Cover lightly and let rest for 20–30 minutes.
  • Score the top of the Camembert and insert sliced garlic and rosemary. Brush the dough balls with olive oil, then sprinkle with sea salt.

Baking

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and the Camembert begins to ooze.
  • Let cool slightly before transferring to a serving board.

Notes

Serve as an interactive appetizer. Pair with salad or seasonal fruits. Comes alive with a light coffee or herbal tea.
