Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, egg, milk, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Mix gently until just combined. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.

Baking the Meatloaf

  • Bake uncovered for approximately 45 minutes.

Making the Mushroom Sauce

  • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown. Stir in additional garlic, followed by beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Let it simmer until thickened.

Final Assembly

  • After 45 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven. Top with Swiss cheese and the mushroom mixture. Return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Allow the meatloaf to rest after baking before slicing to retain moisture. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans for a classic meal.
