Ingredients

Macaron Shell Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour 100g, fine texture lends a subtle nutty flavor
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar 200g, adds essential sweetness
  • 3 large egg whites At room temperature for best results
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar For added sweetness
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Infuses aromatic warmth
  • pink gel food coloring For vibrant color

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Softened, for a rich filling
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar For sweetness in the filling
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream Adds richness to the filling
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract For flavor enhancement in filling

Instructions

Make the Macaron Batter

  • Sift almond flour and powdered sugar into a large mixing bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy.
  • Gradually add granulated sugar and whip until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently fold in the almond flour mixture in batches to form a smooth batter.
  • Add pink gel food coloring and mix until uniformly blended.

Pipe & Bake

  • Transfer the batter to a piping bag with a round tip and pipe heart shapes onto a lined baking sheet.
  • Let macarons sit for 30-40 minutes to form a skin.
  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and bake for 12-14 minutes.
  • Let the shells cool completely before lifting them off the baking sheet.

Prepare the Vanilla Filling

  • Beat the softened butter until fluffy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar until creamy and smooth.
  • Mix in vanilla extract and heavy cream to elevate texture.

Chill & Serve

  • Pipe a dollop of filling onto half of the macaron shells and sandwich with the tops.
  • Refrigerate assembled macarons for 12-24 hours before serving.

Notes

For successful macarons, ensure dry tools, age egg whites, and avoid overmixing. Allow resting time before baking.
